Entry-level smartphones are designed to deliver essential features without the premium price tag. The HONOR Play 10 follows this approach, offering basic smartphone functionality for budget-conscious consumers.

While it lacks advanced AI features and extensive camera options, the device has a few notable specifications, including a 5,000mAh battery, a MediaTek Helio G81 processor, and expandable storage. For users who need an affordable 4G smartphone for everyday tasks, it is worth considering.

Inside the Box

HONOR smartphones typically come in white packaging, but the HONOR Play 10 breaks from this convention with an aqua-blue box that opens through a side flap.

The package includes the smartphone, a compact black charger, and a Quick Start Guide.

The device weighs 189 grams and measures 8.55mm thick. Its SIM card slot is located on the upper-left side, while the volume and power buttons are positioned on the upper right. The power button also serves as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

At the bottom are the USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack, giving users the option to connect wired headphones.

After the initial setup, users will find a selection of preinstalled apps, including Temu, Facebook, Calculator, Gallery, Settings, Camera, and Google Play Store. Those who need additional applications can download them through Google Play after signing in to their Google Account.

Storage and Performance

The HONOR Play 10 comes with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Users who need additional space for photos, videos, and other files can expand the storage capacity by up to 1TB using a microSD card.

Powering the smartphone is a MediaTek Helio G81 chipset, an octa-core processor designed for entry-level devices. Combined with its 3GB of RAM, the hardware is geared toward basic smartphone activities rather than demanding applications or intensive multitasking.

For users who primarily browse the web, exchange messages, use social media, and perform everyday tasks, the device provides the essentials.

Operating System and Connectivity

The HONOR Play 10 runs on Android 15 Go Edition and supports 4G LTE connectivity.

During the initial setup, users need to sign in with a Google Account to access Google services and download applications.

The smartphone supports dual Nano-SIM cards, making it a potential option for users who want to maintain separate personal and work numbers or use it as a secondary device.

Its connectivity features include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and support for 3G and 2G networks.

Display and Camera

The HONOR Play 10 features a 6.74-inch TFT LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720 × 1,600 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate.

For photography, the device is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera capable of recording 1080p video and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both cameras have an f/2.2 aperture.

However, photography is one area where the smartphone keeps things simple. Unlike higher-end HONOR models with more extensive camera features, the Play 10 offers limited shooting options and lacks dedicated modes such as Night, Portrait, High-Resolution, and Panorama. It also does not offer dedicated macro or zoom capabilities.

Users who enjoy experimenting with photography or want greater control over their images may find the camera experience restrictive. The device is better suited to casual snapshots and basic photo-taking needs than to creative or advanced mobile photography.

Battery and Charging

One of the HONOR Play 10’s notable features is its built-in 5,000mAh battery.

The battery capacity is a practical advantage for users who prioritize everyday use without needing frequent charging. However, actual battery life will depend on usage patterns, network conditions, and display settings.

The device supports 10W charging, which is modest by current smartphone standards. Users should expect charging to take longer than it would on devices with higher-wattage charging support.

Verdict: A Basic Smartphone for Budget-Conscious Users

The HONOR Play 10 is designed for consumers who prioritize affordability and essential smartphone functions over advanced features.

Its 5,000mAh battery, expandable storage, 90Hz display, dual-SIM support, and 3.5mm audio jack give it practical appeal for everyday use. However, its 3GB of RAM, basic camera capabilities, and 10W charging highlight its entry-level positioning.

It may also serve as a secondary smartphone for users who want a separate device for calls, messaging, or other routine tasks.

The HONOR Play 10 is available in the Philippines for ₱6,999.
