HUAWEI has officially launched the XMAGE Awards 2026, its annual global smartphone photography competition that highlights the power of mobile imaging and visual storytelling through HUAWEI devices, including the flagship HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro.
With the theme “Now Is Your Shot,” this year’s competition invites hobbyists and professional photographers worldwide to capture authentic moments and transform everyday scenes into compelling visual narratives using HUAWEI smartphone technology.
Participants can submit entries across nine categories, including Colour & Shade, Good Night, Faces, Action, Storyboard, and Experimental Lab. HUAWEI said the competition aims to showcase diverse human experiences through impactful mobile photography.
From all submissions, 100 outstanding works will be selected for the prestigious XMAGE 100 recognition. Among them, 97 winners will receive a USD 1,500 creator fund and electronic certificate, while three Grand Prize winners will each receive USD 10,000. The awarding ceremony will take place at the Grand Palais in Paris this November.
As part of the initiative, HUAWEI also partnered with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Offices IV-B, V, VII, and X to promote the Philippines’ natural and cultural beauty through mobile photography. Using the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro, creators are encouraged to capture authentic local stories and destinations such as Mayon Volcano, Buwakan ni Alejandra in Cebu, Marinduque’s Balanacan View Deck, and the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary.
The HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro features advanced imaging technology, including a True-to-Colour Camera system, 50MP Ultra Lighting Camera, 48MP Ultra Lighting Telephoto Macro Camera, and a 40MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera. It also introduces AI Composition tools designed to help users create professional-quality images with ease.
Built for extreme environments, the smartphone comes with IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings and can withstand temperatures ranging from -20°C to 80°C.
The XMAGE Awards 2026 is open for submissions until August 16, 2026, through HUAWEI’s official XMAGE website. Meanwhile, the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro is available in the Philippines for PHP 69,999, with promotional discounts running until May 31, 2026.
