PLDT Home is strengthening its push for responsible digital citizenship through Online Alerto, an online safety advocacy initiative designed to help Filipinos navigate the internet more safely amid rising cyber threats and digital risks.
Launched in 2022 as a Facebook-based community, Online Alerto has grown to more than 77,000 members, providing educational content, practical safety tips, and discussions focused on online vigilance, misinformation, cyber scams, digital well-being, and responsible internet use.
The initiative comes as digital fraud continues to rise in the Philippines. According to a 2026 TransUnion report, the country recorded a 4.1% suspected digital fraud rate in 2025, higher than the global average of 3.8%. The report also found that 72% of Filipinos surveyed experienced digital fraud attempts through online platforms, emails, calls, or text messages.

Menardo “Butch” Jimenez, Jr. discusses the importance of digital safety, cybersecurity, and responsible online engagement as PLDT Home strengthens its Online Alerto advocacy for Filipino internet users.
To address these challenges, Online Alerto regularly hosts Facebook Live sessions and educational campaigns featuring public figures, athletes, and creators discussing social media pressure, online toxicity, misinformation, and healthy digital behavior. The live sessions have already attracted over 25,000 attendees.
Featured guests included members of the PLDT High Speed Hitters such as Mika Reyes, Jessey De Leon, and Kiana Dy, who shared insights on managing online pressure and maintaining healthy digital boundaries.
PLDT Group also highlighted its broader cybersecurity initiatives. From January to March 2026, the company said it blocked 49 billion malicious domain access attempts, prevented 1.4 billion cyberattacks and data breaches, and stopped 208,000 attempts linked to Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC)-related content.

PMAJ Leslie Jallorina, Chief of the Police Community Relations Section, engages with students from Universidad de Manila during the Online AlerTour campus session, discussing digital safety, cyber awareness, and responsible online behavior as part of PLDT Home’s Online Alerto advocacy initiative.
Beyond online campaigns, PLDT Home launched Online AlerTour, a campus-based digital safety education program conducted in partnership with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group. The initiative has already reached over 500 students from institutions including Far Eastern University, Universidad de Manila, and Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
PLDT Home said the campaign reflects its belief that meaningful digital progress goes beyond internet speed and connectivity, emphasizing the importance of awareness, vigilance, and responsible online engagement.
