Twilio has introduced a new generation of AI-driven customer engagement tools at its SIGNAL 2026 conference, positioning itself as a key infrastructure provider for the growing “agentic AI” era.

The company announced four major platform capabilities now generally available: Conversation Memory, Conversation Orchestrator, Conversation Intelligence, and Agent Connect. Together, these tools are designed to help businesses create persistent, context-aware conversations across AI agents, human representatives, and communication systems.

According to Twilio CEO Khozema Shipchandler, the new platform aims to eliminate disconnected customer interactions by ensuring conversations remain continuous and personalized across channels.

A major highlight is Twilio Conversation Memory, which stores customer history, preferences, and conversation context so users no longer need to repeat information during support interactions. Meanwhile, Conversation Orchestrator enables seamless handoffs between AI and human agents across messaging and voice channels.

Twilio also expanded its AI capabilities with Conversation Intelligence, which uses generative AI to analyze live conversations and trigger automated workflows in real time. In addition, Agent Connect allows businesses to integrate AI agents directly into Twilio’s voice and messaging ecosystem using an open-source, model-agnostic framework.

The company also launched a redesigned Twilio Console featuring Workbench, a developer-focused workspace with built-in AI assistance for managing communications, compliance, and billing from a centralized interface.

Beyond AI orchestration, Twilio announced several platform upgrades including:

  • Twilio Email powered by SendGrid technology
  • PCI-compliant Voice AI workflows
  • EU-based SMS data residency support
  • Apple Messages for Business integration
  • Expanded collaboration with Stripe for streamlined developer provisioning

Industry analysts say the move strengthens Twilio’s position in the convergence of CPaaS, CCaaS, customer data platforms, and AI-driven engagement technologies.

Private beta customers such as Centerfield, Constellation Dealerships, and Car Finance 247 reportedly achieved rapid deployment and measurable business improvements using the platform’s AI-powered conversation tools.
