AIA Philippines recognized outstanding student-led health and sustainability projects during the AIA Healthiest Schools (AHS) Changemaker Summit 2026, highlighting how young innovators are addressing real-world community challenges through practical and scalable solutions.

Held at AIA Tower in Makati City, the summit gathered finalists from across the country to present projects focused on physical health, nutrition, mental well-being, and environmental sustainability. The event serves as the culmination of the AIA Healthiest Schools program, which equips students and teachers with resources to develop community-centered initiatives.
Top honors in the grade school category went to Hicming Elementary School in Catanduanes, whose students transformed plastic waste into eco-bricks used to build a medicinal herb garden. The project evolved into a community health resource, providing residents with access to herbal remedies in an area with limited healthcare access.
In the high school category, Granada National High School-Ballesteros Extension in Iloilo was recognized for Project Compostech, an initiative that converts biodegradable waste into organic fertilizer. The project improved local soil quality, enabled food production on campus, and now supports a feeding program benefiting approximately 70 malnourished students and their families.
Launched in the Philippines in 2024, the AIA Healthiest Schools program has reached more than 32,000 students and trained nearly 1,000 teachers across five regions. Implemented in partnership with the Corazon S. Atayde Memorial Foundation, the initiative promotes innovation, sustainability, and community well-being through student-driven solutions.
The winning schools will represent the Philippines at the regional AIA Healthiest Schools competition in Bangkok, Thailand, in July 2026, where they will compete alongside student teams from other countries across the region.
