Boomi has acquired Elementary Data to expand its enterprise AI capabilities with data observability, quality, governance, and discovery tools designed to help organizations deploy more reliable AI agents and workflows.

The acquisition strengthens the Boomi Enterprise Platform by helping enterprises identify and resolve data issues before they affect analytics, AI models, applications, and autonomous agents.

Founded in 2022, Elementary Data began as an open-source project and has since been adopted by more than 1,500 data teams, with approximately 1.1 million monthly downloads and a community of around 4,000 members. Its Elementary Cloud offering, launched in 2024, adds enterprise-focused capabilities.

Elementary’s technology includes automated data pipeline monitoring, column-level data lineage, a shared data catalog, and health scores that help teams assess data quality and trace information across systems. It also provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that makes data context and health information available to AI tools and agents.

The platform incorporates AI agents designed to automate tasks such as data testing, incident triage, governance, and performance optimization. These capabilities aim to help organizations detect data freshness, volume, and quality issues before they affect downstream systems.

Boomi Chairman and CEO Steve Lucas said the acquisition adds capabilities to help ensure that data powering enterprise AI and agents is reliable, explainable, and ready for business use.

The move comes as enterprises expand their use of agentic AI systems that can make decisions and take actions with limited human intervention. According to a July 2026 Forrester Consulting study commissioned by Boomi, 86% of surveyed leaders said their organizations had moved beyond AI agent pilots, while only 34% said they trusted the actions taken by their agentic systems.

Elementary CEO and Co-Founder Maayan Salom said joining Boomi would help extend trusted data capabilities to a broader enterprise market. Boomi reports serving more than 30,000 customers and working with over 800 partners.

The acquisition underscores the growing importance of data reliability as organizations move AI projects from experimentation into production, where inaccurate, outdated, or poorly governed information can undermine automated decisions.
