Equinix has announced Equinix Fabric One, a managed connectivity service designed to simplify how enterprises connect distributed cloud, network, and AI environments as infrastructure becomes increasingly complex.
Announced at Equinix Horizon, the service is designed around intent-driven networking, allowing customers to specify what they need connected through a portal, APIs, automation workflows, agent-based requests or natural-language prompts. Fabric One then automatically orchestrates the connectivity, routing, encryption, resiliency and failover needed to deliver the requested configuration.
Built for distributed AI and multicloud
Equinix Fabric One will leverage the open-source OpenAPI 3.0 Interconnect specification, developed through collaboration between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud. The approach is intended to improve interoperability and preserve customer choice across cloud, AI and enterprise environments.
The platform is also designed for emerging agentic architectures, where AI applications and agents can programmatically discover, request and provision network connectivity without requiring manual intervention.
Equinix says Fabric One builds on its global digital infrastructure ecosystem, which includes more than 10,500 interconnected businesses and approximately 3,000 cloud and IT providers, giving enterprises access to a broad range of connectivity options.
Equinix Fabric One is expected to enter beta later in 2026, with general availability planned for 2027, initially in North America.
