Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) is strengthening its digital trade and compliance support services as businesses across Asia Pacific prepare for the European Union’s removal of the de minimis duty exemption on July 1, 2026.
The regulatory change will introduce new customs requirements, product data standards, and additional costs for shipments entering Europe, prompting businesses to enhance their compliance strategies.
To help customers navigate the transition, FedEx conducted customer education webinars reaching more than 5,000 businesses across 12 Asia Pacific markets. The initiative provided guidance on customs clearance, documentation requirements, and operational adjustments needed to avoid shipment delays and unexpected costs.
Post-webinar findings revealed that while awareness of the EU changes is high, readiness remains mixed. Only 59% of businesses reported being fully or mostly prepared, while 41% remain at an early stage of preparation or unprepared. The biggest challenges cited include limited access to actionable guidance, lack of expertise in EU customs regulations, and difficulty keeping up with evolving compliance requirements.
In response, FedEx is leveraging technology to simplify customs processes. Its shipping, invoicing, and clearance platforms have been updated to align with new EU regulations, helping businesses manage documentation and compliance more efficiently through digital tools.
The company has also launched dedicated support resources, including compliance guides, access to customs specialists, and regularly updated online information hubs covering Product Identifier (PID) requirements and the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) framework.
To further support trade between Asia and Europe, FedEx has expanded its logistics network with five additional weekly flights added over the past year, bringing its total to 26 weekly flights connecting Asia Pacific markets with Europe. The enhanced network enables express deliveries in as little as 48 hours.
As regulatory complexity continues to increase, FedEx aims to help businesses maintain supply chain resilience, stay compliant, and continue expanding into European markets through a combination of digital innovation, trade expertise, and global logistics infrastructure.
