Kaspersky has updated Kaspersky Next Optimum with new modular security capabilities designed to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) strengthen protection without replacing their existing technology infrastructure.

The update introduces five security modules covering Security Awareness, Email Security, Workload Security, Threat Lookup & Analysis, and Vulnerability Management. Businesses can deploy the capabilities based on their specific risks and requirements while retaining their existing technology stack.

The move addresses key cybersecurity challenges faced by SMBs. Kaspersky research found that phishing accounted for 20% of the most common external incidents affecting SMBs over the past year, followed by software-vulnerability exploits at 17%. Meanwhile, 26% of organizations cited compatibility and integration issues as reasons for switching cybersecurity vendors, while 23% sought to consolidate multiple security products.

Kaspersky Next Optimum combines the new modules with endpoint, EDR, XDR, and MXDR capabilities, extending security beyond individual devices.

The platform also adds simulated phishing campaigns and compromised-credential insights. Administrators can conduct realistic phishing tests to identify employee knowledge gaps, while Kaspersky Next MXDR Optimum uses threat intelligence to correlate leaked credentials with suspicious authentication activity.

Kaspersky said the expanded platform is designed to provide SMBs with scalable, flexible cybersecurity protection while reducing the complexity and operational burden often associated with managing multiple security solutions.
