NVIDIA has partnered with Noetra Corp. to build the world’s first national AI factory dedicated to physical AI, deploying 13,750 NVIDIA Vera CPUs and 27,500 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs to power Japan’s next generation of AI-driven industries.
The AI factory will be built using NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks based on the NVIDIA DSX™ AI factory platform and interconnected through NVIDIA Spectrum-X™ Ethernet networking. The infrastructure is designed to accelerate the development of multimodal foundation models that support AI agents, robotics, digital twins, and other physical AI applications.
The facility will serve as the computing backbone for Japan’s FRONTia Project, an initiative led by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to develop highly reliable multimodal AI foundation models for robotics and industrial applications. The project combines Japan’s manufacturing expertise with advanced AI infrastructure to strengthen innovation across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, telecommunications, and other sectors.
Noetra plans to make pretrained multimodal foundation models broadly available to Japanese enterprises and AI developers alongside NVIDIA technologies, including Nemotron™, Cosmos™, Isaac™ GR00T, and NeMo™. The move is expected to accelerate the development of agentic AI and physical AI solutions across the country.
Built on NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin DSX AI factory architecture, the facility will deliver 140 megawatts of data center capacity, leveraging Spectrum-X networking, BlueField DPUs, and tightly integrated hardware and software to enable large-scale AI training with improved efficiency and lower operational costs.
The announcement supports Japan’s AI Robotics Strategy, which aims to secure more than 30% of the global AI robotics market by 2040, creating an estimated $133 billion market opportunity while advancing intelligent manufacturing and robotics through large-scale AI infrastructure.
