Philippine Esports Organization (PeSO) has been appointed as the official National Team Partner for the Philippines in the upcoming Esports Nations Cup 2026, marking a significant step in the country’s push to strengthen its presence in international competitive gaming.
The tournament, organized by the Esports Foundation, is set to debut in Riyadh from November 2 to 29, 2026, and introduces a nation-based competition format designed to complement existing club-level esports events.
As the designated partner, PeSO will oversee the formation of the Philippine national esports teams across multiple titles, including player selection, team development, and operational management. This includes the appointment of Leo Andrew Escutin as National Team Manager, tasked with coordinating team operations and ensuring compliance with tournament standards.
PeSO Executive Director Marlon Marcelo said the appointment underscores the organization’s long-standing role in developing Filipino esports talent and building a competitive ecosystem. The group brings together key industry players such as Tier One Entertainment, Mineski Global, TNC Pro Team, and Playbook Esports, with support from Smart Communications.
The Esports Nations Cup has attracted strong global interest, with over 630 applications from 150 countries and territories. According to Hans Jagnow, the Philippines is expected to be a competitive force, given its reputation for producing both skilled and highly engaged players.
The initiative reflects the continued growth of the Philippine esports industry, which now boasts over 67 million gamers and a largely mobile-first competitive landscape. With increasing institutional support and structured international pathways, the country is positioning itself as a major player in the global esports scene.
By introducing a national team framework, the Esports Nations Cup adds a new competitive layer alongside established tournaments like the Esports World Cup, enabling long-term investment in athlete development and national representation.
As preparations begin, PeSO’s leadership will be critical in shaping the country’s roster and ensuring that Filipino players are ready to compete on the world stage.
