PLDT and Smart Communications are providing critical connectivity support in General Santos City following the recent earthquake in Mindanao, enabling faster coordination among local government units, emergency responders, and affected communities.

The PLDT Group immediately activated network and connectivity assistance at the General Santos City command center, helping ensure continuous communication for relief operations, emergency response, and recovery efforts despite widespread commercial power outages and the city’s declaration of a State of Calamity.

To support residents on the ground, the PLDT Sales and Service Center in General Santos City is offering free WiFi access, device charging, and NDD calling services, allowing affected individuals to stay connected with family members and emergency contacts during the ongoing recovery period.

PLDT and Smart are also working closely with local authorities to extend additional communications support to critical sites and other areas in need of connectivity assistance. These efforts aim to strengthen coordination among response teams and ensure reliable communication channels remain available in affected locations.

The company reiterated its commitment to public service, stating that it will continue coordinating with government agencies and disaster response partners as recovery operations progress across Mindanao.
