The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has partnered with Maya to digitally distribute fuel subsidies to eligible public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators, accelerating the government’s shift toward digital financial services for social assistance.
Under the Fuel Subsidy Program, qualified beneficiaries can receive assistance directly through the Maya app, reducing dependence on manual and over-the-counter payout methods. The first batch of digital disbursements has already been completed.
The initiative comes as the government responds to rising fuel prices and market volatility linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Beneficiaries include operators and drivers of public utility jeepneys (PUJs), UV Express units, taxis, and minibuses.
The LTFRB remains responsible for validating and identifying eligible recipients to ensure transparency and accurate distribution of assistance.
Beyond faster fund transfers, Maya said digital accounts provide transport workers with access to financial services such as savings, bill payments, credit, insurance, and cashless transactions, promoting greater financial inclusion.
The partnership reflects the growing adoption of digital financial platforms in government services, supporting faster, more efficient, and more accessible aid distribution. It also builds on previous collaborations between Maya and the LTFRB, including fuel subsidy payouts during the pandemic and digital payment services for the LTFRB Franchise Online Application System and MMDA traffic violation payments.
